Find Relief Safely and Effectively
Morning sickness is a common symptom of pregnancy that affects many women during their first trimester. Although the name implies that it only occurs in the morning, it can strike at any time of day or night. Nausea, vomiting, and general discomfort can make it difficult to go about your daily routine. Many women are hesitant to take prescription medication which have a list of potential side effects. Thankfully, there are many safe and natural remedies that can help relieve morning sickness. In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the best natural remedies for managing morning sickness.
1. Ginger
Ginger is a popular and effective natural remedy for morning sickness. You can consume ginger in many forms, such as ginger tea, ginger ale or ginger capsules. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and can alleviate nausea and vomiting caused by morning sickness. It is important to note that ginger supplements or capsules can contain large amounts of ginger, and should be taken in moderation.
2. Acupressure
Acupressure, a form of traditional Chinese medicine, involves applying pressure to specific points on the body to stimulate healing. There are pressure points on the wrist that can help alleviate nausea. Applying pressure to the “P6” point located three finger-widths from the crease in your wrist towards your palm can help manage morning sickness symptoms. Acupressure wrist bands can also be used to provide constant pressure to the P6 point.
3. Peppermint
Peppermint has a cooling effect that can help alleviate nausea and calm your stomach. You can consume peppermint in the form of tea or use essential oil topically. This natural remedy has a relaxing effect, which can help calm the mind and body.
4. Small and Frequent Meals
Eating large meals can aggravate morning sickness symptoms. Therefore, it is recommended to eat small and frequent meals throughout the day. Eating small meals can help maintain blood sugar levels while keeping the stomach settled. Snacking on high-protein foods, green vegetables, and fresh fruits can also help reduce nausea and vomiting.
5. Stay Hydrated
It is important to stay hydrated during pregnancy, particularly if you are vomiting and unable to keep anything down. Drinking water and other fluids, such as electrolyte drinks or coconut water, can help keep your body hydrated and reduce the chances of developing dehydration from vomiting. It’s essential to stay hydrated even if you feel nauseous or cannot keep foods down.
6. Essential Oils
Aromatherapy with essential oils can help alleviate morning sickness symptoms. Several essential oils have properties that help reduce nausea such as ginger, peppermint, lavender, and lemon. You can diffuse these essential oils with a diffuser or use as a room spray. Be sure to check with a qualified aromatherapist before using essential oils during pregnancy.
7. Rest and Relaxation
Stress and fatigue can aggravate morning sickness symptoms. It’s crucial to get more rest and relaxation, which can help reduce stress-related symptoms. Gentle stretching can help relieve fatigue and reduce tension. Resting with your feet up or taking a nap may help alleviate morning sickness symptoms by reducing body tension and restoring energy.

Ginger and acupuncture helped me the most during my last pregnancy. I wasn’t sure about the acupuncture but it was a huge blessing when all my heavy symptoms were gone after seeing an acupuncturist!!
