All About Colloidal Silver

April 10, 2024 by thebehhome 1 Comment

What is Colloidal Silver?

Colloidal silver (CS), often touted for its purported health benefits. It is a suspension of submicroscopic silver particles in a liquid base, typically water. This colloidal solution contains antimicrobial properties, including wound care, oral hygiene, and immune support. CS can combat bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Although, scientific evidence supporting these assertions remains limited, because they have not taken the time to thoroughly study it. Colloidal silver has a long history of use dating back centuries.

History of Collodial Silver

Throughout history and across various cultures, colloidal silver has held a significant place as a remedy for a wide range of ailments. Dating back centuries, civilizations such as ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and China utilized silver in various forms for its perceived healing properties. Historical records indicate that silver was ingested, applied topically, or used to purify water and preserve food due to its antimicrobial effects. In medieval Europe, silver coins were placed in containers to prevent spoilage, and silver utensils were believed to deter bacterial growth. Similarly, indigenous cultures in the Americas employed silver-containing plants and minerals for medicinal purposes. Over time, CS became a staple in traditional medicine practices worldwide, revered for its purported ability to combat infections, promote wound healing, and support overall health.

How to make CS:

Colloidal silver is made through a process called electrolysis. Electrolysis involves passing an electric current through pure silver electrodes immersed in distilled water. To simplify, here is an overview of how to make CS:

  1. Equipment Preparation:
    • You’ll need a power source (such as batteries or a power supply), two pure silver electrodes (usually rods or wires), distilled water, and a container for the electrolysis process. You can also buy the generator here.
  2. Assembly:
    • Place the two silver electrodes into the container filled with distilled water, making sure they don’t touch each other. Suspend the electrodes in the water, with a small gap between them.
  3. Electrolysis:
    • Connect the electrodes to the power source, ensuring that each electrode connects to the appropriate terminal (positive and negative). When the electric current passes through the electrodes, silver ions are released from the positive electrode (anode) into the water, creating a colloidal suspension of silver particles.
  4. Monitoring:
    • Monitor the process closely, as the color of the solution will gradually change from clear to a light yellow or amber hue as silver particles accumulate in the water. The intensity of the color depends on factors such as the concentration of silver ions and the duration of electrolysis.
  5. Collection and Storage:
    • Once the desired concentration of colloidal silver is achieved, disconnect the power source and carefully remove the electrodes from the solution. Transfer the colloidal silver solution into a clean, dark glass container to minimize exposure to light, which can degrade the solution over time.

How to use CS:

Colloidal silver has garnered attention for its purported health benefits and versatile applications. One of the most common applications is as a topical remedy for various skin conditions. These include cuts, burns, acne, and eczema. Apply diluted CS solutions directly to affected areas or incorporated into skincare products such as creams and ointments.

Additionally, you can use colloidal silver as a nasal spray or throat gargle to alleviate symptoms of sinus infections, colds, and sore throats. Some individuals also ingest it orally as a dietary supplement or antimicrobial agent.

Furthermore, employing colloidal silver in alternative medicine practices is beneficial for its purported immune-boosting properties and potential to combat bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. You can also utilize it in water purification systems to disinfect and sanitize drinking water.

  1. Antibacterial agent: effective against a wide range of microorganisms, use topically for its purported ability to prevent or treat infections.
  2. Antiviral and antifungal properties: it can help in treating viral and fungal infections.
  3. Immune system support: use it as a natural way to boost the immune system.
  4. Treatment for various conditions: effective in treating conditions like Lyme disease, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and others, but these claims lack substantial scientific evidence.

I have been using colloidal silver for about a decade now and it is so amazing! I used it in the hospital to disinfect surfaces. We have personally used it on bug bites, pink eye, sore throats, and so many other ways. I really need to invest in my own equipment to make it at home.
